The model knows the Phillies have plenty of offense. Philadelphia has 314 runs, a top-three figure in the NL, and the Phillies are No. 2 in the NL with 84 home runs. Philadelphia is slugging .429 as a team with an impressive .253 batting average. The Phillies are also in the top five of the NL in doubles and stolen bases, and Philadelphia has the best OPS (.792) in MLB this year in road games.
The model also knows the Nationals have home-field advantage and clear strengths. Washington has the fewest strikeouts in the NL this season, and the Nationals strike out on only 19.4 percent of plate appearances. The Nationals are also in the top five of the National League in batting average (.254) and hits (565).
